Mexborough’s iconic Empress Building is the home of the elegant and recently renovated Empress Ballroom, which is an ideal venue for corporate functions of many different types. Incorporating classical soaring ceilings, ornate décor, large open-plan space and grandiose stage for delivering talks, presentations and performances, the Empress Ballroom makes for a fabulous alternative to sterile hotel conferencing rooms, and remains with remarkable nods to and original features from its time as a nationwide destination for ballroom dancing and performances.

With available space to host up to 350 delegates, this lavish venue will create an immense talking point from the start of your seminar, conference, presentation or product launch, until the very last minute.

This fully furnished function venue is in a well-connected South Yorkshire town, only ten minutes’ drive from the A1 motorway, and with a railway station that is directly accessible from both Doncaster and Sheffield.

Don’t worry about connectivity, as the venue is fully serviced with free guest wi-fi available throughout, to enable you to access cloud-based videos, presentations and documents, as well as enable remote video conferencing access to your function, no matter where your attendees are based.

We are able to offer a series of bespoke packages, depending on your budget and business needs, and also have a range of set packages for you to choose from, including:

Room and Refreshments – Simple room hire, for you to set up as you require with the on-site seating, and includes access to the PA and Projector facilities. Ideal for day-time general meetings, presentations and talks.

Catered Function – The team at the Empress Ballroom will ensure your delegates and guests are catered for with a hot meal or a simple, cold buffet, with hot and cold refreshments provided. This package requires a minimum of fifty paid heads.

Day and Night All-Inclusive Hire – We welcome corporate clients who wish to use the venue for an AGM before settling down to enjoy a black-tie dinner in partnership with the Goa Spice Indian Restaurant which is situated within the iconic building. We will provide live music entertainment if required, so that your guests can loosen up and leave the business talk at the door. This package requires a minimum of 50 paid heads, and comes with preferential rates from one of three local hotels for your guests’ overnight stays. Drinks vouchers can also be purchased to hand to your guests and can be used with our fully licensed bar.
