GRAHAM OLIVER

Charity Evening

Join us on 8th May at the Empress Ballroom for a special evening with Mexborough’s own Graham Oliver, legendary founding guitarist of Saxon. This unique charity event in aid of the Mexborough & District Heritage Society promises a fascinating night of music, and stories.

Graham has spent over 58 years in the heavy metal arena, touring the world and helping shape the iconic New Wave of British Heavy Metal. From forming his first band as a Mexborough schoolboy to becoming lead guitarist with Saxon, he went on to record their early albums and tour alongside legendary bands such as Motörhead and Rainbow. Saxon’s success saw them reach the UK charts, appear on Top of the Pops, and perform at the very first Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park.

During the evening, Graham will be sharing stories from his incredible career as well as playing his beloved guitar , giving fans a rare chance to experience his legendary sound up close.

VIP Gold Experience tickets will also give guests the opportunity to meet Graham personally and have a photo with him.

We’re also delighted to welcome talented local musician Eric Owen, who will be performing as the warm-up act to kick off the evening.

This promises to be a memorable night celebrating music, local heritage, and rock history – all while supporting a fantastic local cause.
